How to Start a Trucking Company Without Driving?

If you want to make money in the US trucking industry but, at the same time, don't want to deal with the long hours, isolation, fatigue, and driving all day long, you can start a trucking company without driving.

In a trucking company, the truck driver is an important part of the puzzle but the most important part of the puzzle is played by the people who run the company and keep everything in order.

They might not have an interest in driving themselves but they own the fleet.

Below, find out how to start a trucking company without driving.

Do you need a CDL to start a trucking company without driving?

To start a trucking company without driving, you don't need to own a CDL.

A CDL is needed only if you intend to haul freight by driving a commercial vehicle.

But, if you stay in the office hiring drivers or other individuals to do office work, there is no reason for you to have a CDL. For this type of work, a CDL is not required.

After figuring this out, the next thing that you need to do is to follow this checklist of starting a trucking company.

Starting a trucking business without driving

Starting a trucking business without driving is mainly not different from the process of starting a trucking company. It even doesn't matter whether you choose an LLC business structure or other form of business entity.

The main goal of this process is to your business as a motor carrier with a trucking authority.

A trucking authority allows FMCSA to identify, monitor, and collect safety and inspection information, crash investigations, and audits.

So, by obtaining a trucking authority even if you run your trucking company without driving, you become an entity alongside all other trucking companies with the same rights and responsibilities in the logistics market.
